By vocation, Emma’s professional career spanned over 25 years in the federal government, state government, and in the private sector.   

1. She is a U.S. Army Service-Connected Disabled Veteran who served on active duty and in the U.S. Army Reserves for 10 years as a Finance Officer in Korea, Kansas, and Georgia.   

2. She worked:
   • At Georgia Department of Labor
   • At Georgia Industries for the Blind
   • In the construction industry  

She has expertise in operations management, process improvement, and quality management systems.

3. For over a decade, Emma worked at the CDC (Centers for Disease Control). She was a specialist in program administration and workforce development initiatives.   

At the same time, community and civic engagement has always been a priority for Emma.

• For over 20 years, she has led many teams in supporting community service and outreach initiatives in the county where she resides (and in surrounding counties)
• Before starting her business, she provided necessary life skills training, communication skills training, and leadership skills training to adults and youth for 16 years… at no-cost – solely out of passion
• She has served on Boards of Directors on matters concerning
  • Women in Business and Entrepreneurship
  • Health and Human Services
  • Higher Education and Continuing Education
  • Community Outreach   

Since the spring of 2016, Emma has enjoyed working with college students and teaching part-time as an Adjunct Faculty and Professor in higher education.   

In April 2018, Emma founded her business, Soft Skills Zone, LLC., and she resigned from the workforce.  She teaches:

• Effective communication
• Teamwork and Collaboration
• Understanding personality traits for workplace synergy 
• Customer Service skills
• And other soft (employability) skills

Her business also offer certification programs and provides apprenticeship training.   

As a business professional,

• Emma has taught courses throughout the U.S., in India, and in Russia
• Clients have included non-profits organizations, colleges, businesses, and county government
• She enjoys working with young adults (16–24-year-old) as well
• As her business continues to grow, Soft Skills Zone is positioned to do business with the state government and the federal government.   

As a college professor:

• In July 2023, Emma and other adjunct faculty were displaced since the college where they taught ended their Organizational Development and Leadership program. She was an adjunct faculty there for seven (7) years,
• The following month, she was fortunate to start as a part-time Adjunct Faculty at another nearby university
  • Emma teaches business classes to students seeking their bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in business   

Emma has also taught courses at other colleges, universities, and academies.   

She is a:

• Master trainer of job readiness and job success skills
• Certified Human Behavior Consultant
• Certified DISC Facilitator
• Certified DISC Profile Analyst (CDPA)
• Certified Managerial Coach (CMC)
• Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM)
• Licensed minister and elder at her church in Duluth, GA.   

She holds her:

• Bachelor of Business Administration
• Master of Arts in Business 
• Doctorate of Christian Leadership and Management
